Frequently Asked Questions

A flawless airbrush tan is a team effort — we always say it's 50% us and 50% you. Your individual skin makes a big difference in the result, so we put together this prep + aftercare guide to help you get a smooth, long-lasting glow with an even fade.

Shave + exfoliate

The night before your appointment, shave any unwanted hair and exfoliate from head to toe with an exfoliating mitt. This sloughs off dead skin so the tan grips healthy skin instead.

Still wearing an older spray tan? It needs to come off first — pick up a bottle of Tan Eraser and remove it beforehand. Spraying over an old tan is like painting over chipped polish: possible, but blotchy.

No products day-of

On tan day, arrive clean and product-free. Skip:

  • lotions
  • deodorant
  • oils
  • perfumes
  • body makeup

These create a barrier between your skin and the solution and can cause green underarms, odd patches, and uneven color.

Wash your hair beforehand

Wash your hair before your appointment, or plan your wash schedule around it. Shampoo and conditioner can interfere with a developing tan, so you don't want to be washing it during your first rinse window.

Plan your day

We use lightweight solution and finishing powder so you can carry on with your day — but the tan is still developing. For the next several hours: wear loose, dark clothing, avoid water (yes, washing dishes counts), and skip heavy sweating.

During your tan

Whatever makes you comfortable — bikini, bra and bottoms, just bottoms, or nothing at all. We've seen it all and it's a completely judgment-free zone.

For male clients: some form of coverage is required — boxers or briefs, your choice.

After your tan

Think loose, dark, and comfy. Avoid anything tight that can rub against developing skin:

  • bras
  • leggings
  • tight waistbands
  • socks or tight closed-toe shoes

If you're developing overnight before your first rinse, wear long sleeves and loose pants to bed to help prevent bronzer transferring onto your palms and hands.

With proper aftercare, a Bronzey tan can last 10–12 days. Good habits get you started, but the products you use afterward are the real secret.

Most drugstore body products contain alcohols, heavy fragrances, sulfates, and parabens that strip color and fade your tan faster than it should.

Our Bronzey Body Care Collection is formulated with your tan in mind — hydrating, free of harsh stripping agents, and designed to help your color last longer and fade evenly.

The marination period

Once you're sprayed, your tan keeps developing until you rinse, so handle it gently. Avoid skin-to-skin contact, especially with your palms and fingers — the DHA can transfer and disrupt the blend. This matters even more if you're developing overnight; loose, dark long sleeves and pants help you avoid waking up with orange palms or streaks.

Avoid water until your rinse

Water stops DHA from developing. That means no washing hands, dishes, bathing kids, rain showers, or quick rinses. Stay dry until your scheduled rinse time.

Rinse times

Our rapid solution lets you customize your depth of color — the longer you wait to rinse, the deeper it develops. Always rinse at the time your technician recommends.

  • 2 hours — light / medium
  • 3 hours — medium
  • 4 hours — medium-dark
  • 5–6 hours — dark

Your first rinse

Your first rinse is water only — no body wash, soap, shampoo, or conditioner. Save those for a later shower.

Don't panic after rinsing

Right after rinsing it can look like the color has washed away — totally normal, especially with rapid solutions. What rinses off is just the cosmetic bronzer. Your real tan keeps developing for 18–24 hours after your rinse.

trust the process — the tan is loading.

Your spray tan should be the very last step in your beauty routine. Massages, waxing, facials, mani/pedis, lash fills, and body treatments should all happen at least 4–12 hours before your spray tan appointment.

Most of those services use lotions, oils, scrubs, or serums that create a barrier between your skin and the DHA, which can leave your tan patchy, uneven, or lighter than intended.

Doing them afterward is even harder on a fresh tan — the products, soaking, and scrubbing can strip, fade, or discolor your color.

Life happens — we get it. A valid card on file is required to book, and because our schedule fills quickly and our technicians' time is valuable, we keep a few policies in place to keep things running smoothly.

Cancellations

Cancel within 48 hours of your appointment and your card is charged 50% of the service. Cancel within 2 hours and the full service charge — including add-ons — applies.

Reschedules

Reschedule to a different day within 48 hours and the same 50% charge applies. Rescheduling for the same day? No problem — you won't be charged anything extra. Reschedule to another day within 2 hours and the full service charge applies.

No-shows

Late arrivals

Traffic and busy mornings happen — but arriving more than 5 minutes late may mean being moved to another technician, waiting while we finish another client, or rescheduling. Our tans run about 15–20 minutes, so a late start affects everyone booked after you.
